About Maria: journalist, author and influencer focusing on sustainability issues
1. Soap vinegar (Grunne)
Fabric softeners are known to be bad for the environment, but unfortunately many consumers are still reluctant to give them up. Then 100% biodegradable laundry vinegar is a good alternative, and the fact that it also works for cleaning makes the benefit double.
2. Light (Wood Mood)
Ukrainian family business that takes waste from the wood industry and makes beautiful, reusable wooden candle holders, which are then filled with refills of locally produced and fragrant beeswax purified/refined using solar power. A clever, patented clay plate and wooden wick solution means that the candles are safe to use despite having a wooden casing, and each one is unique as availability is based on what scrap pieces are available.
3. Re:glaze (ASA)
A well-thought-out combination of recycled clay and recycled glaze creates a fine, classic series of ceramics that are fired in solar-powered kilns, with the excess heat recovered. Efficient use of resources, including water purification and reuse.
4. Hand knitted blanket/scarf (Fire blue)
Small-scale product that combines locally produced raw materials with local craftsmanship by spinning and hand-knitting Gotland wool on the island. Socially and ecologically sustainable.
5. Circular wheat heater (Terrible Twins)
Nice cooperation with a hotel where discarded linen curtains are recycled and become circular wheat heaters, filled with organic wheat. A first step towards a fully circular range, perhaps?
