Interview with Studio Madelen Möllard

Madelen was the winner of Design Talent’s Best in Show award in January 2024.

Congratulations on winning the Formex Design Talents “Best in Show”. How does it feel? And what does this mean for you?
Thank you very much! I am delighted that my work is appreciated. An award like this really gives a boost and so much encouragement to continue creating and exploring new areas of design and products.

How did Studio Madelen Möllard start?
The studio was born from the idea that I wanted to develop my artistry into designing 3-dimensional objects of my art. I presented the idea to two friends, Rebecka Lindhe and Susanne Bonnier, who I knew would bring energy, knowledge and drive to realize the idea of Studio Madelen Möllard. It is so wonderful to have them along for the ride.

Describe what you do and where you get your inspiration from?
I create objects and interiors inspired by my art.

How did you experience your participation at Formex Design Talents? What was most positive?
Great fun! Surrounded by so much great energy and fantastic to meet so many interesting people and talented designers. The best part was definitely all the exciting conversations and making new contacts.

What happens next?
Let’s do the furniture fair! It will be great fun. Beyond that, the plan is to explore textiles and porcelain. There are so many fun projects going on and it feels so good. I love it when there is a lot going on!
