House of Creativity

Crafts and creativity in focus at the entrance square

A recurring favorite at Formex is the entrance square exhibition, each time created by a selected creator. In the past two years, Tekla Severin, Lena Nyholm, Dennis Valencia and Anna Starrén have created these eye-catching installations. In January, it’s time for digital creator Kristin “Krickelin” Lagerqvist to take on the task. With her unique perspective on creation and its expression, Lagerqvist takes on the task of transforming the entrance square into a living home where crafts are in focus.

– We are extremely happy to have Kristin with us. It’s the first time we’ve given the assignment to someone who doesn’t have a traditional background in interior design, and it feels like a natural step towards a broader definition of what interior design can be. In addition, the pressure from our visitors has been great. Kristin has been a long-awaited name in our surveys,” says Sonja Björk Ebert, project manager for Formex.

In the “House of Creativity”, creation takes center stage
The exhibition, named House of Creativity, will be built as a home where creativity and making become part of the interior design. With earthy colors, dark furniture, vintage objects and ongoing craft projects in each room, the exhibition will be a vibrant and inspiring environment. The approximately 200 square meter installation is based on Formex trends for spring 2025 and will feature products from selected exhibitors.

– I want to create a place that encourages reflection where every detail has a story. Visitors will encounter a home that feels alive, filled with sketches, craft materials and art,” says Kristin Lagerqvist. The House of Creativity will reflect a home where both creative and everyday life are intertwined – where laughter, long dinners, dancing in the kitchen and resting coexist with the joy of creation.

Creative collaboration with invited artist friends
To enhance the feeling of a living exhibition, Kristin Lagerqvist has also invited several artists from Halland to contribute to the installation. Among the participating creators are names such as Rebecca Charlez, Tammy Karlsson, Patricia Trambevski, Hanna Wendelbo, Lisa Burenius, Jennie Blomkvist and Theoni Jirnell.

– I love working with people around me and want to create something that represents the collective creative power of my network. The exhibition will be dynamic, where visitors can see projects in different stages depending on which creator is working there at the moment,” Lagerqvist explains.

Creating the entrance square exhibition for Formex is the biggest project of its kind for Kristin Lagerqvist so far.
– “I feel extremely honored and proud to receive this assignment and it feels great that Formex dares to think outside the box and give someone without a traditional interior design background the chance to create House of Creativity. This is exactly the kind of innovative thinking that leads to unexpected and exciting results, and with the right people around you, you can do anything,” Lagerqvist concludes.
