Norwegian interior designer Halvor Bakke visits Formex

“The most important thing is that you decorate the way you want and know that you will get what you want.”

Halvor Bakke is one of Norway’s most popular interior designers, known as the host of various TV shows such as Stugfixarna Norge. He has designed both interiors and furniture, created color charts and wallpapers, developed bedding and launched kitchens and cottages. In January he visited Formex and spoke on stage! We asked Halvor a few questions to get to know him better before his visit.

Longing for home, what does it mean to you?
– Coming home to the farm and my safe and private base means everything in a busy life. Here I quickly find peace and gather energy for a new day.

What is the difference between Swedish and Norwegian interior design?
– Swedes use a lot of light colors, light wood and often patterns. Whereas we Norwegians are probably darker and more masculine in taste and style.

What is your relationship with trends?
– I don’t like talking about trends. The most important thing is that you decorate the way you want, knowing that you will get the home you want.

Which gadget will never have a place in your home?
– I don’t like yellow colors, so a yellow cushion will never fit in my home.

What is going on in your life right now?
-We are preparing the filming of a new season of Stugfixarna Norway and a new TV concept that will be on TV in spring 2023. As well as new collections from my partners. There is much to look forward to!
