CANCAN Revolutionizes the Color Industry - World Premiere at Formex

As Formex opened on August 22, the color brand CANCAN was launched, a new initiative aimed at enriching the color industry and inspiring greater creative freedom in a new era. Behind CANCAN stands the leading Nordic paint specialty trade, Colorama.

CANCAN is the result of an effort within Colorama, where a large number of individuals with unique experiences and expertise came together to reshape the color industry and create a brand that sets a new standard.

-All revolutions begin by questioning old truths. To raise one’s gaze, to see things from different perspectives, and to decide. The latter is difficult, frightening, and laborious. But as the world constantly changes, Colorama’s world changed too. New times, new competitors, new ways of selling, and new customers to sell to. Despite the major shifts, we still live in a time where the same type of walls is painted with the same type of colors, captured in the same images over and over again. We didn’t want to be there. And we decided to tear down the whole damn house and build something completely new, says Oskar Klingberg, CANCAN.

World Premiere at Formex
CANCAN’s 66 colors have been developed by world-leading individuals in the design and interior decoration world. hris Martin, Chief Designer at Massproductions; Nadia Tolstoy, Interior Architect at Tengbom Arkitektkontor; Fredrik Paulsen, award-winning furniture designer; Ola Carlsson-Fredén, Creative Director at the lighting studio Helmet Design Studio; and last but not least, Jenny Clark, a London-based color expert with global clients, are some of the carefully selected team members who have developed the distinct color palette, where each color has a unique story. During the opening of Formex, the largest meeting place for interior design in the Nordic region, consumers got their first glimpse of CANCAN’s color palette and experienced the fascinating story behind each color through a spectacular exhibition.

– In new times, new thoughts are needed. We knew early on that we wouldn’t be just another color brand. We take a broader approach to the sphere where color and painting are involved, aiming higher. Choosing CANCAN is not just about choosing paint – our entire existence rests on unleashing the creator that exists within all of us. And for us to be the only choice for a creative audience, we must come to the table with something that doesn’t exist today. An encouragement where all ideas and projects take off from the feeling YES, YOU CANCAN,” says Kim Öijerstedt Ander, responsible for CANCAN.
